At Beautiful Minds Bankstown, we are a group of volunteers of all ages and walks of life – including consumers, professionals, and family, carers, friends of those experiencing mental illness.
We are passionate about supporting, advocating and raising awareness for mental health recovery in the Bankstown area and are committed to breaking down stigma and promoting community involvement. This is primarily through fundraising, and business and community engagement.
We focus in particular, on fundraising and developing initiatives and programs at Banks House (Acute Mental Health Unit) at Bankstown Hospital. We currently fund art therapy and fitness classes for patients, and have contributed to renovation projects.
We officially started in 2016 as a branch of Beautiful Minds Community Committee, Macarthur and we are a sub-committee of One Door Mental Health – formally known as Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW Inc, a non-government community based non-profit charity which has been supporting people with a mental illness for over 25 years.
